| Grief is normal | Grief is the normal response to any important loss in life. It occurs regardless whether The death of a pet means the loss of a mate |
| Guilt ... It's a word that brings terrible feelings of loss, horror anger and helplesness, especially when you have had to make the decision to have your pet put down, made worse if you have to do it from a remote site. All the "if only's" ... If only I had noticed sooner.... if only I had waited longer....... if only I had more money and had gone to the vet earlier...... if only I had gone to a better vet. We keep beating ourselves up. |
|
| So, be kind to yourself, know that the reason you were so close to your pet was because you loved and cared for him or her. Write down your feelings of grief |

![]() That's Toto & me |
This is a sympathy card from an 8 year old. Even at this age, understanding grief and ways of dealing with it, is important. Her dog Ti and my dog Toto had both been put to sleep after a series of long and sad illnesses. The card has lots of bones and paws as they run around together in heaven with rainbows and blue skies forever. |
