Setting your own career goals

Personal Development   Setting your own Career Goals
  Back
There are two parts to the task ...
and best demonstrated with an example
(even if a bit silly,
but nothing is impossible).

1. The Dream Machine
Goal setting
2. Making it happen
Project Management

Answer honestly,
the following 4 questions:

This is the How.
The ways to achieve a successful outcome.
  What do you want?
Why
do you want it?
Where?
(Usually here)
When?
(Usually now)
  Juggle your
Resources,
Dollars
& Time

I want to win the Bathurst 1000 V8 car race.
(Consider this example)
OK, that's
What
you want to do.
Why .. for your mark in history
Where .. Bathurst, stupid!
When .. while my mates are still alive.

Now for the
How ..

You have
resources,
(driving experience)
& your doctor gave you the thumbs up,
time,
(long service leave),
you just need the
big bucks to buy a very fast car and
maybe pay off the field to drive very slowly ...

If that fails,
get a driver like the new Formula 1 Star
Alex Hamilton to change his name
and sit in the seat for you.
Simple really!

So, set your goals, and project manage yourself to make it happen.
Use paper and pen to work and rework
the steps and resources you need,
even adjusting the goals, so at the end of the day
you can feel the success.
