Time out ... enjoying your own space

You and the long shifts
In 24 hour operations,
sleepiness can cause errors
because of the difficulty in
keeping focus and inattention.

In the early morning,
around 4am the body temp can be the lowest
and the resulting inactivity
creates the urge to go to sleep.

Night shifts can also increase
depression and gastro distress.
Sleep deficits can also reduce body defences
and this can increase the heart rate.

Using a variation
of the labyrinth
for your own onsite
meditation
You can walk quickly or slowly.

It is a way of creating
a contemplative state
where a mix of left & right hand turns
is designed to quieten the mind
and create a relaxed atitude
for quiet meditation.

Labyrinths have the
same start and end point (A),
follow a single path and have
a central destination (B).

As part of your private meditation,
(1) start with a goal or purpose
      that may need resolution.
      It gives you something to
(2) ponder while you walk
to the inner target & return.

On a mine site,
as part of enjoying your own space,
why not create your own labyrinth.

It does not have to be as complex
as a classical layout, maybe just
follow the edge of the paths
within the camp footpaths links.
The physical central focus
could be a seat.

Below are a couple of contacts
of various labyrinths.
There are also many books
and websites with supportive materials
and meditation guidance.

You could also create your own meditation labyrinth
in your neighbourhood, housing complex
or even you back or front yards.
